"Dr. Seth" Mittleman comes from a family of health practitioners. His father recently retired after practicing pediatrics in southern California for thirty-three years. His mother retired from her postion as a head nurse in the maternity ward at Los Angeles County Hospital. His maternal grandmother was an oral surgeon nurse for forty-six years while his paternal grandmother was also a nurse and had begun medical school until she withdrew due to health issues.
As a pre-medical undergraduate, Dr. Seth took an elective dance class, which drastically changed his life. He trained in Pasadena at Le Studio and then two years later, received a full dance scholarship to Adelphi University in New York. The following summer he received yet another full scholarship to Joffery Ballet School and then danced at the renowned Alvin Ailey's School. It was at the Alvin Ailey School, that he was injuried. At that time, he was unfamiliar to chiropractic. He had been prescribed and advised to take muscle relaxers and painkiller pills for his symptoms. Under the wisdom of his father, he was advised not to take the prescribed medications for they would only mask his symptoms. So, when Seth returned to Adelphi, he received physical therapy treatment. Eventhough he experienced temporary relief during and following his sessions in therapy, the symptoms would return in a few days. Eventually, approximately a half of year later, his therapist secretly told him to seek chiropractic care if he wanted to fix the problem.
Chiropractic was the perfect fit for him for it had movement and natural health as a philosophy. Natural health was is childhood upbringing and movements such as a state competive long distance running in junior high, a California State Basketball Champion in high school and ballet and modern dancer in college, had always been his lifestyle. He had met his calling in life and the rest is history.
With Dr. Seth, one experiences a completely unique health transformation. The combination of being a professional dancer, along with his degrees in human biology and fine arts lends itself naturally to chiropractic. "Muscles move bones, bones do not move muscles. If you do not change and address the muscles (cables) in the body, then the bones, joints and therefore the body can not stay aligned and balanced. Being balanced structurally, mentally and spiritually is the ultimate goal, for when you are balanced you obtain optimal health and wellness," is Dr. Seth's philosophy. He has studied with the masters of his profession and of the healing arts.
In 1992, he was the only graduate student of chiropractic invited to study with the renowned neurologists Karl Levitt and V. Janda in Czechoslovkia. Later, he continued to study with and learn from experts such as Don Harrison, MSe, D.C., Ph.D, who is the leading bio-mechanic physics expert and Dr. Dan Murphy who personally taught him the much sought after treatment, yet rarely known or performed by the health practitioners, "nasal specific" technique for people suffering with allergies and sinus problems. In addition, Dr. Seth has been trained and certified three times by international acclaimed wellness practitioner Dr. John Brimhall.
In addition, Dr. Seth is known for his studies and work on extremities (wrist, elbow, shoulder, foot, ankle and knee). He has treated the gold and silver track Olympians of the 2004 Olympics. His one year of studies with Dr. Arthur Croft on Advance Cervical Whiplash has made him a much sought after practitioner and rehabilitator for those who have suffered neck and back injuries due to a motor vehicle accident. He is the proud owner of one of two cold lasers that all-time cyclist Lance Armstrong used when he made history and won his sixth "Tour de France," race. He has embraced the wisdom of the renowned Yeung (Yang) family Tai Chi form and training and has incorporated the therapeutic benefits into his healing practice.

From a Nobel Prize physics laureate, medal decorated Olympians, movie stars, a former Miss America and an American Ballet Theater dancer to pregnant moms, a ninety-seven-year old woman and a two day old infant, all walks of life have sought and received Dr. Seth's profound care and treatment in Pasadena since 1994. Yet, Dr. Seth remains humble and hungry to learn more. "I am very honored to have worked with the best-of-the-best in the field of health and yet, I have an insatiable and ravenous appetite to know and be more. I want to have the knowledge, the proper tools, to help the person who stands before me. Every body is unique and therefore everyone's treatment must reflect this overlooked truth." When asked, what's next in his endeavors, Dr. Seth confidently smiles and states that he has been truly inspired and is working on a technique that will enhance the wellness experience for all. Dr. Seth yearns to contribute to his great profession and add to the great works of the bright and enlighten chiropractors before him.
Dr. Seth has been voted "Best Chiropractor," by The Pasadena Weekly 2008, 2009 and 2010!
